On Saturday 23rd March, Canterbury Christ Church University Boxing students completed their 12 hour Sleep Out to raise money and awareness for Catching Lives.
“The event was a great eyeopener and team bonding experience to keep ourselves entertained for the full 12 hours! Our team definitely found it harder than anticipated and the event really showed an insight into the realities that the homeless communities feet on a daily basis. We have all come away from this event with a great deal of respect for the homeless community and appreciation for the luxuries that we would otherwise take for granted.”- Alice Hayward (Social Secretary of CCCU Boxing Society).
“Canterbury has a very high homeless population- we all see it walking around town, I really wanted to do something to help the situation. When I became president I realised that I could. And it feels really good to give something back to a club, a town and a university that has given so much to me.”-Jack Bidewell (President of CCCU Boxing Society).
They have raised over £550 so far which is an amazing amount and will help us to continue to offer the services we provide for rough sleepers and vulnerably housed people who come to us for support.
Their fundraising page is still open and can be found here
We send our thanks to all who took part in the Sleep Out and all who kindly donated as we rely on the support of our community in order to tackle homelessness.
