Waitrose Canterbury Donate Over 100 Delia Smith Christmas Cakes For A Charity Bake-Off In Aid of Catching Lives

Waitrose Canterbury has donated 110 Delia Classic Christmas Cake kits and 40 blocks of butter to local charity, Catching Lives.

On Monday 19th December, local children from the Thannington Resource Centre will help to bake festive treats which will be distributed to homeless people from the Canterbury area.

Waitrose Canterbury is located in St George’s Place and opened its doors earlier this year. The store has already helped a variety of local projects through Community Matters, an initiative through which all Waitrose branches support projects in their local areas.

Waitrose Canterbury donates £12,000 annually to local charities and projects nominated by customers and employees, with each cause receiving a share of £1,000 each month.  Customers and Partners can nominate three local causes to receive a share of £1,000 each month.  Catching Lives received £348 from the branch in October 2011.

Dave Lane, Branch Manager for Waitrose Canterbury, says: “We are delighted to be supporting Catching Lives for the second time with a donation of 110 Delia Classic Christmas Cake kits.  We hope that everyone has a fun-filled day baking and that this event will bring some festive cheer to the local people who benefit from the charity’s great work.
