On Saturday 17th March at Christchurch University’s sports centre, individuals will be coming together and attempting to climb a combined height of the three peaks- Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Scafell Pike.
It is being organised by the Christchurch Climbing Club, in partnership with St Pauls church and the student union, however everybody is welcome- even first time climbers, with no pressure to complete a particular distance. The combined total that they are aiming for is over 11,000ft, completed entirely on the 30ft wall at Christchurch, so it will require 267 climbs! Therefore anything that each person can contribute will add up! There are 7 routes up the wall to keep things varied!
The money raised will help buy sleeping bags for homeless people in Canterbury as part of St Paul’s ’40 bags in 40 nights’ charity event. Their JustGiving page can be found here
Their Facebook page has further information, found here
No experience or equipment needed, just rock up and do what you can, every foot up the wall will help. If you want to climb, please come dressed in either sports gear and trainers or sensible comfortable clothes that allow for ease of movement. Or if you’re not a fan of heights then you’re welcome to watch as well. We will be holding a small bake sale at the centre on the saturday to raise some extra pennies.
We would like to say thank you to all who are involved, and an extra thank you to St Paul’s church for being one of our night shelter venues over the last 3 months.
The event will be held on Saturday 17th March from 6:15-7:15pm.
