Maci’s fundraising for Catching Lives

Maci’s fundraising for Catching Lives

We would like to share with you the brilliant work that a 6 year old girl named Maci is currently doing to support homeless people in Canterbury. This Christmas, Maci will be making up boxes of essential winter items, such as gloves, tissues and toiletries, which she will then donate to us to be given to those who come to our daycentre. She also plans to add a homemade Christmas card to each box, such as the one pictured.

Maci’s Mum Vicky says, “Maci has always had a big heart and wants to help everyone but she has always shown extra interest in helping the homeless. Obviously she is too young to help at a shelter; however she can fundraise as much as she can to help buy basic essentials that will help, especially during the colder months.”

To raise money for purchasing the items for these Christmas boxes Maci will be collecting donations, such as clothes, toys and books, to be sold at car boot sales. On top of this, Maci will wash some of the clothes donations (with a little help from her Mum Vicky!) and then donate them directly to our daycentre!

Maci is also raising money by completing a variety of sponsored events such as a bike ride round her local recreational ground to show off her newly learned ability to ride a bike without stabilisers, and an afternoon tea where she will be selling homemade cakes and cards.

Catching Lives would like to say a big thankyou to Maci and wish her the best of luck with her fundraising events. Being homeless is of course a struggle all year round; however it can be especially hard during Christmas, as many of those we see have lost contact with their families and therefore often feel particularly lonely at this time of year. Every year we have a big Christmas day meal at our centre and we are sure those who are there will love opening their Christmas card from Maci. We look forward to seeing the finished boxes and handing them out this Christmas.

If you would like to know more about how you can support Maci, such as donating items for her car boot sales, please contact Vicky at vfredericks89@gmail.com

To support Maci’s fundraising events you can donate on her JustGiving page here- https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/Maci-raising

Her mum Vicky says “Maci will be so happy for any support, big or small, and thanks you for visiting her page.”

If you have been inspired by Maci’s brilliant work and would like to see how you can also support Canterbury’s homeless people, whether through fundraising, donations or volunteering, please contact Graeme at  volunteer@catchinglives.org or call 01227 464904.
