Mim completed the London Marathon in 6 hours 12 mins 55 secs; which was a sterling effort considering her knee gave out after 14 miles. She raised a total of £2049.93 for CatchingLives and Rianna’s Fund. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mim for her efforts and her support. She is a star. Below is a photo of Mim with her London Marathon medal.
Mim Taylor will be celebrating her 26th year by competing in her very first long distance run, the 26 mile Virgin London Marathon on 13 April 2014.
Mim, who lives in Canterbury and works as a Childrens’ Worker at St Mary Bredin Church, approached Catching Lives in the summer of 2013 offering to raise money for the charity after receiving the surprise news that she had won a place in the first round ballot (out of 125,000 applications) to compete in the Marathon.
Happily, the initial shock of this first success didn’t dampen her enthusiasm and, with the support of her mother who is also a runner, she is now in full training – and writing a blog about her experience of turning herself into a fully fledged athlete in just 9 months! Read the blog, HERE
Mim hopes to achieve a time of 5hr 45 mins to complete the 26 mile course and will be running with 35,000 chosen competitors on the day.
