Our Service Manager, Terry Gore, heads off to Brighton next month to take part in the UK Chilli Festival’s annual chilli eating competition. On Saturday 21st September, he and 14 other competitors take part in a knockout contest where the person who can eat the hottest chillis is the winner.
Chilli heat is measured in Scoville units and a Jalapeno pepper measures 10,000 units. The hottest chillis in the competition will measure up to 1,500,000 (1.5 million) units. Asked about why he had entered, Terry said: “I don’t run or climb and I didn’t fancy a bath full of baked beans; but I know that I can eat very hot food and when I heard about this contest I thought that it would be a good way for me to get involved in fundraising for CatchingLives. Some friends are coming along to record the day for posterity so we will have a video up on the website afterwards for those who would like to watch me suffer”.
Terry has set himself a target of raising £2000 through his challenge and has already hit the £500 mark on his Just Giving page. If you would like to support him and CatchingLives you can find his fundraising page here http://www.justgiving.com/Terry-Gore
