As of Tuesday 24th March, Catching Lives have taken the difficult decision to close the Open Centre and the winter shelter. This is due to the difficulty of maintaining any kind of social distance in the centre; we can’t minimise the infection possibilities while we remain open.
We are working alongside Canterbury Council to try and find accommodation for the rough sleepers in the area.
Our outreach worker will continue to be out and about offering support and helping to monitor client health and well being. The needle exchange will continue to operate but will only be available from 9am – 2pm, every day.
We will be issuing regular updates to keep who need to know, informed. Rest assured we are doing all we can to ensure homeless people in East Kent and Canterbury in particular are continuing to receive support.
