Contrary to an article printed in this week’s edition of the Canterbury Times, CatchingLives’ Canterbury Open Centre has not “closed its doors until winter”. The Centre remains open and active all year round, but our winter shelter did indeed close on 28th February.
We have been contacted by a few of our supporters who were concerned that we had ceased operating and we are happy to correct this impression. Our Service Manager Terry Gore said: ” We are still operating our normal services and looking forward to a year where we continue to develop and grow. This year’s Canterbury Community Shelter has been the most successful since it’s inception in 2010. With our partners we have ensured that many vulnerable people have not had to return to rough sleeping. Our day centre services will continue this work throughout the year and we hope that the local community will continue to support us in the inspiring way that they have.
