Thank you and well done to Sophie Roberts who completed the Canterbury half-marathon in August, raising £322.89 for Catching Lives along the way .
Sophie says, “I had been chatting with my boyfriend for a while about how we could support the homeless people in Canterbury, but we weren’t sure where to start. We had initially thought about the idea of handing out soup and one evening we got chatting to a guy sleeping rough and asked him what he thought of this idea. He said it was a good but that if we really wanted to make a difference then getting in touch with Catching Lives would be the best idea as he said the work that they do is so beneficial to those who sleep rough.
After reading about the work that Catching Lives does I became passionate about volunteering but, due to where I was living at the time, I could not get there regularly. However I am pleased that I can still support them through fundraising. I’ve always enjoyed short jogs around the block but thought I’d challenge myself this year, and I wanted to gorge on chocolate without the guilt!”
