PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT A BIG SUCCESS

Last autumn Catching Lives Arts Coordinator Miriam Ellis secured funding through Kent County Council’s Saving Lives Innovation Fund to run a photography project with our clients. “We ran various activities outside the centre including a day out in London and an afternoon of Falconry at Mount Ephraim.” Miriam explained. “The trips encouraged more people to join in and also provided the opportunity to experience new places, people and ideas.”
Some amazing work came out of these trips and the project culminated in an exhibition “Life Beyond the Lens” at The Fishslab Gallery in Whitstable.

The exhibition ran from 15th – 20th January with really positive reviews; eight of the framed photographs were sold with the proceeds being used to help fund future photography projects. A book featuring the photographs has been published, also entitled “Life Beyond the Lens” which is now available for £4.50 at the Catching Lives bookshop. A big thank you must go out to Neil Sloman for helping curate the exhibition and Sanjay Kalideen and Omicron Repro for producing such a high quality book. Thanks also to all the clients who took part: Danny, Gavin, Greg, Howard, Jimmy, Kelly, Kelvin, Lachlan, Phil, Stacie and Steve and finally, thanks to Joe’s Bow for making the Falconry experience out such a great afternoon.
