Canterbury Community Shelter (CCS) provides emergency winter shelter for up to 15 people per night who would otherwise be sleeping rough. Opening between 16 December and 16 March and delivered by Catching Lives, CCS is hosted by church and community venues around Canterbury using a different building each night of the week.
Waking Night Staff
We're looking for team members to work overnight, supporting guests and ensuring the shelter remains a safe and calm environment. You'll be working in pairs, providing a friendly presence and ensuring the venue is tidied and ready for handover each morning. Shifts are typically 8pm-8am, £12ph, and working patterns are flexible with either single or multiple shifts available each week. The Shelter runs for three months and shorter term contracts are also possible.
This role offers a great opportunity to gain experience working for a charity, as well as making an immediate difference to the lives of people who are homeless. We're looking for people with transferable skills around communication and teamwork, who can offer a calm and non-judgemental service to our guests.
