Catching Lives day centre is urgently seeking extra volunteers to help in its kitchen.

The kitchen, run entirely by volunteers, provides breakfast and lunch to people experiencing homelessness seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Ruth Akehurst, Volunteer Co-ordinator, said: "We desperately need some more volunteers for shifts across the week to build our amazing kitchen team.

"People who volunteer for us do so for all different reasons - from meeting new people and a sense of purpose, to work experience and giving something back.

"Everyone is welcome here. Volunteers are at the heart of Catching Lives and help keep our vital services running.

"If you're able to spare a few hours a week and are interested in this varied and rewarding role, please get in touch."

Volunteers includes students, job seekers, working and retired people. People come from different backgrounds, including teachers, administrators, professional chefs, church groups, gardeners and full-time carers.

Full support and training will be provided.
