Four new Trustees have joined the Board at Catching Lives.

We are delighted to welcome four women: Gülen Petty, Fran Ellis, Natalie Archer and Bernie Mayall to the Board.

Gülen, Chief Executive of Lewisham Local, said: “Ending homelessness is a cause very close to my heart and I wanted to offer my services and experience to a charity working in this sector, supporting people facing poverty and homelessness. Homelessness can happen to anyone. Seeing more and more people rough sleeping and the social injustices they face daily only made my desire to be a trustee for a homelessness charity stronger.”

Fran, Chief Executive of Rising Sun Domestic Violence & Abuse Service, said: “I have been interested in the work of Catching Lives since moving to Canterbury in 2018. My colleagues who work in partnership with Catching Lives always speak very highly of the team and organisation. While I hear from them about the challenges faced by their clients who are homeless, I am keen to learn more about the root causes of homelessness, the people it impacts, how they manage to overcome adversity and to work with Catching Lives to support them on their journey.”

Bernie, Charity Consultant, serial CEO, Chair, NED and Governor said: “Catching Lives is large enough to make a difference, small enough to know people by name, deeply connected to the community. The vision of a society where all are included and can make a contribution is at its core.

“Catching Lives understands the complexity that underpins homelessness and insecure housing and works in positive partnerships to ensure services reach people and to raise awareness without judgement. My own backstory and deep enduring commitment to mental health, the Criminal Justice System, disability including learning disability, governance, autism and social care chime with the aims and mission of this extraordinary organisation and it is a privilege to be part of its journey.”

Natalie, Funding and Project Manager at RSPCA Canterbury & District Branch: “I am delighted to be joining the Board at a wonderful local charity that provides incredible practical support through the provision of a day centre, and so much more, for people struggling with homelessness and sleeping rough, working together helping to rebuild their lives.

“Having volunteered here many years ago and being so impressed with their tireless work I’m glad to be able to come back and support in a new role.”

Tasmin Maitland, Chief Executive of Catching Lives said: “Gülen, Fran, Natalie and Bernie bring an incredible wealth of experience to the Catching Lives Board. I welcome our new Trustees and look forward to working together.”
